Seed Stories V and VI

I mentioned before in a couple of posts that my three miniature pieces from a traveling exhibit called Tripletta were sold, and that I was working on pieces to replace them. You would think that making something 2.5 by 3.5 inches would be easy, but apparently it is not, at least for me. I'm having a hard time getting inspired to make more pieces on the Seed Story theme, which my original pieces were based on. I suppose it's not strictly necessary that I continue that theme, so I made some pieces that I call Prayer Flags (here, here, and here), which I may send to the show. But I'm also trying out some Seed Story pieces, just to see which I like best.



So here are a couple of new Seed Story pieces. See what you think:

All of these pieces are monotypes with mixed media, by the way. So, what do you think? Do you like these better than the Prayer Flags? Thanks in advance for your opinion/help!

Once I get on a roll with something it's hard for me to stop. Two more Prayer Flags just came to me, so here they are. I may choose three of the six to substitute for the three sold Seed Story pieces (two of them here and here) in the Tripletta traveling show, but I'm also working on some more Seed Story pieces, so we'll see.

For the past few months, I have had three pieces in a traveling art exhibit called Tripletta, a show of miniature works of art. It is now in its third venue, and at the opening a couple of weeks ago, all three of my pieces sold. This is fantastic news, of course. The only problem, which really is not a problem, is that I now have to replace those pieces, since the exhibit is scheduled to go on to other venues. (To see two of them, go here and here; unfortunately, I never had a chance to photograph the third.)

The reason it's not a problem is that I love to make art. In fact, I've started a series of little monotype/collages that I call Prayer Flags. The only problem is that I'm not sure I like them enough to put them in the exhibit; I keep thinking that maybe I should continue with the Seed Story theme instead.

Something to Share, and a Give-away

I have a few pieces of good news and some other things to share with you.  First of all, I don't think I mentioned that one of my entries was accepted into the National Collage Society's

There were over 500 entries, so I was pretty excited that mine was chosen.  This year's exhibit is truly one of the best collections of collages I've seen in a very long time, even if I do say so myself, so please check it out.  A couple of examples to whet your appetite:

 As if that wasn't enough good fortune, I was recently notified that my work will be featured in ArtBuzz, the 2014 Collection - a hard cover book of work by the winners of their annual juried fine art search, in which I was awarded 2nd place for mixed media.

 Needless to say, I was thrilled (and surprised)!  You can pre-order a copy of it at the artist's discount price here.

Also, I'm very happy to announce that I have three pieces in a curated traveling show which will be opening in Louisville, Kentucky on December 7th.  If you're in the area, I hope you'll be able to come by for the opening reception.

Time has been shooting by at a very high rate of speed, and here it is, November already! It seems an appropriate time, with the holidays approaching, for the give-away I've been meaning to have for ages now, but never got around to. And since it's been so long, I've decided to double the fun and pick two winners this time.  Winners will receive:
