Brown seems a fitting color for November. Even the Kinneyconick Creek looks brown at this time of year, due to low water levels and sediment, though the water is actually very clear.
I build a cairn of brown stones to honor the spirits of this place...
and an altar on which to leave an offering.
Brown leaves look like beautiful calligraphy written across a striking blue sky...
Yellow- and red-brown leaves in the creek...
The warm brown of newly-sanded logs...
... and the fall foliage of a single redwood tree...
To enjoy more gorgeous brown, go to Jennifer Coyne Qudeen's or Julie Booth's wonderful blogs; they will hook you up with all the links! Hope you enjoy! Happy Fall, everyone!
Oh, gee.....say a prayer for me at your altar by the creek,
ReplyDeleteand maybe the redwood will grow for a thousand years.
Ken
Ken, I will leave an offering in your honor... I'm hoping the redwood will live at least that long. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteHi Sharmon- You certainly got into the brown spirit! Love how you celebrated the color and the season.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie; I had so many choices for brown this time of year. Thanks for hosting the blog hop!
DeleteBeautiful natural brown choices here ... love, love the altar!
ReplyDeleteMary Anne, it's not hard to find myriad shades of brown around here in the fall. I'm pretty proud of my altar, myself, though I know it has probably fallen down already... which is as it should be. xox
DeleteThe autumn leaves in the stream are beautiful and the sanded logs which from the wall are something which I'd like to see for myself.I like the rustic handmade quality of the walls.Would be wonderful to live in a house with walls like that.
ReplyDeleteMaya, thanks so much for the kind words about my log cabin. It has been a lot of work, but definitely a labor of love. We don't live there full time, but it's a wonderful vacation getaway spot.
Deleteenjoying these beautiful autumn colours on a very hot night here in the Land Down Under!
ReplyDeleteMo, I'm so glad you're enjoying our autumn colors, but I'm very envious of you hot temperatures right now!
DeleteHi Sharmon
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post! The immediacy of your cairn, thoughtfulness of your alter, language of leaf forms against the sky, sanded logs (I can smell the wood), all tell your story of November brown. They are varied and rich in tone as well as warm and intriguing in their allegory.
Thank you for this
Steven
