For this drawing challenge, I decided to share a couple of older pieces in which blue is prominently featured. I do tend to favor blue in general, but these are REALLY blue. I never get tired of looking at them (though one was sold). I hope you'll like them too.
As Above, So Below
mixed media, 17.75 x 10 inches
Sacred Geometry
monotype with mixed media, 22.5 x 17.5 inches
I feel like I could just drown in this blue, don't you? It's so saturated and rich. I hope the person who bought it is enjoying it as much as I enjoyed making it!
I just couldn't resist sharing Joni Mitchell's Blue; it was playing in my head the whole time I was working on this post. Enjoy!
This drawing challenge is hosted by Patrice of the wonderful Patrice A blog.
Please visit her for links to the other drawing challenge participants. I can't wait to see their blues!
Sacred Geometry is quite a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Mary Ann!
DeleteSharmon, blue is my least favourite colour and when I went to get some acrylics in my stash of supplies there just isn't any blues. One crickety drying bottle of tole paint from the second hand store was all there was. Luckily it was 'sky blue' so worked perfectly for my project. Your blues in these two pieces however, make me swoon. The pieces themselves make me swoon. This is fine, fine, fine art to me. My eyes love looking here. And I can only imagine that the owner of your work is enjoying living with it. There is nothing in the whole world like original art right in front of a person, to be viewed in person. Thank you for showing us your pieces. *smiles* Norma
ReplyDeleteNorma, I'm very honored that you have such nice things to say even if you don't like blue. Maybe you will become a blue convert yet? xox

ReplyDeletethis is exactly what blue does to me too, sometimes, and completely when someone relates to blue and i recognize what you, in this case, are saying. thxs for joni. she's nostalgically sweet.
ReplyDeleten♥
Thanks, Nadine! It's that intense blue that just pulls me in like nothing else. I love Joni, nostalgically and always.
DeleteI do love both of them Sharmon. I love As Above So Below ever so slightly more, but both are fantastic. I was just listening to Joni Mitchell's blue on my epic drive a couple weeks ago. She's one of those quintessential singers who shows up on any Canadian's life list of songs. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Veronica! Joni Mitchell was my favorite singer during my teenage years, and I never get tired of that album.
Deletece bleu lumineux te va si bien!
ReplyDeleteMerci, Elfi! J'etre content que tu plait! (please excuse my French; I'm trying to learn.)
DeleteBlue is such a soothing colour, love the Sacred Geometry piece not surprised it sold. Enjoyed the Joni Mitchell song :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting, Kim! I agree that blue is a very calming color; glad you like the piece, and that you enjoyed the Joni Mitchell song!
DeleteI like them both, they're so "sky-like". But the second one is my favorite. The geometrical lines gives it extra depth. - eric
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eric! The second one has always been a favorite of mine!
