It's That Time Again...

It's that magical time again, when all the plants and trees are waking up from their winter's sleep...

Out at our place in the country, the tiny, delicate bluets are blooming...

... as are the trout lilies...

... and Virginia bluebells...

... and whatever these are...

... and the azaleas are budding.

The water in the Kinneyconick is very clear...

... as the beeches...

... and the hemlocks stand guard...

... and the work on the cabins continues. My husband has reclaimed some huge poplar boards from an old building that was being torn down.

Back at home, the garden has been tilled...

and Brussels sprouts, kale, and lettuce have been planted...

... and much work awaits in the flower gardens.

In the meantime, I enjoy the paper-white narcissus...

... and the beauty of the lilacs in bloom.

Whatever you're doing this Spring, my friends, I wish you a joyous and inspiring one!

RoyGBiv: Pink

In the Search for Roy G. Biv, hosted by Julie Booth and Jennifer Coyne Qudeen, we have rotated through all the "official" rainbow colors and are now on to pink. Pink is a color that has been on my mind a lot lately, as the bridesmaids' dresses for my son's upcoming wedding are in shades of blush and pink. Here's one:

Pretty, yes? I, however, have not been having so much luck finding a suitable pink dress, which is the reason my brain has been so stuck on pink.

Here's a lovely wildflower called meadow pink...

... and another which for some inexplicable reason is known as joe-pye weed...

I love this delicate pink primrose, which grows in my own garden...

This bright pink azalea is a joy every year, and the butterflies love it, too...

... a beautiful carved jade vessel at the Smithsonian in Washington.

Thanks for joining me on the search for pink. To see more, please go to Julie's or Jennifer's blogs for all the pink links!

The Same Thing, Only Different (Azaleas)

While I'm working on more mixed media art to share with you, I thought it would be nice to share some more photos.  In the past six weeks we've had maybe five sunny days, and I was lucky enough to be out at Shabo- Mekaw on one of them.  Even better, I was there while the azaleas were in bloom, and the butterflies came out to sip some nectar...

Now, I've got to get back to work!  Enjoy!
